Amesbury: Sparhawk Street was closed for about an hour yesterday morning around 10:30 a.m. after a large locust tree crashed across the street taking down power wires connected to a Sparhawk Street house. An Amesbury firefighter said it appears the old tree was rotted through and that yesterday's high winds was enough to seal its fate. Police blocked off access to the street, also known as Route 150, which connects to Main Street near the downtown area. No one was injured. Dave Rogers/Staff Photo
